New Year's Goals -- Plan that Vacation Already!
Happy New Year! When is now a good time to set goals? Well... You should get a pen and paper out now. You have 15 seconds to write down the top three things you would like to get accomplished. You have another 45 seconds to write down your top three reasons, challenges, or obstacles that have prevented you from achieving your desires. Ready?
GO!
Brian Tracy from Time Power shares, "The first three goals are your top priorities, and the next three are your solutions. When you find a way to overcome your challenges, you will be able to reach your goals."
Now that you've written out your goals, are you ready to go on vacation? Yes, really! Jeffrey J. Fox, author of How To Become CEO, says that vacations are mandatory. Score! So this year, I'm going to plan my life like a vacation.
What are the top three reasons WHY you love to take vacations? Quickly write them down.
I think of fun, adventure, and spending time with the people I love. This is really why I do anything I do.
WHERE are you going on vacation this year?
Think of your ideal destination! My ultimate vacation is to live on a beautiful 100,000-acre ranch in the mountains.
WHEN are you going on vacation?
April 2014. I made this goal in 2007 as part of my five-year plan, only I don't think I can make it happen in four months, so I added two years!
WHO are you going on vacation with?
My boyfriend, Scott.
HOW are you getting to your vacation destination?
You may have a plan like Steve Martin's character in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, who was supposed to take a plane home for Thanksgiving, but due to unforeseen circumstances, ended up taking trains and cars, too. My current “vehicles” to get me to my destination ranch are BOD-E-NOMICS, NSA, Myofascial Massage, mastermind group, and horses. I wonder what's out there to help me that I don't even know about yet!
WHAT are you going to do once you get there?
My destination ranch is a self-sustainable rescue horse sanctuary. It's also a retreat for women who are recovering from domestic violence or sexual abuse, and a learning center for massage and horse therapy.
Now that you have your five Ws and one H, let me close with this Napoleon Hill quote, "There is one quality one must possess to win and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants, and a burning desire to achieve it."
I have a burning desire to plan my life like a vacation. I know why, where, and when I'm going, and who I'm going with. I have a tentative plan on how I'm going to get there, and I have a plan for what I'm going to do once I get there.
Where are you going on your next vacation? How are you going to plan your life? I would love to hear your plans, so email me at wendy@bodenomics.com
