The Grand Haven area has getting something new in the works. For years,
www.surfgrandhaven.com has been at the fore front of all the Grand Haven
websites, but now Surf Grand Haven (SGH) is stepping up and bringing a new
concept to the area that is a much needed change.
The new concept has been under development for the past year, because Will
Beaton contacted Shape Web Designs, located in Grand Haven, to change over to a
new server service. With this in mind, Robert Woonacott and Will Beaton started
collaborating on a possible new concept that would bring more information to the
area, giving tourists and even local residents a one stop website for
information that is proven to work. The website will be implementing local
listings for various businesses and services in the area. During the
construction of the website, Robert wanted to bring more information of the area
to people. He had been trying to come up with a solution for a long time, and
coming on board with SGH was exactly the opportunity he was searching for.
“Our main goal here is to really give back to the community” said Woonacott
and Beaton. The new SGH is going to be a challenge, but they are now relying on
volunteers to help put this project together. It is easy to see that there is
going to be nothing stopping these guys.
The new SGH is going to have everything this town needs to help people find what
they are looking for all in one place. This new News Publishing System (NPS) is
state of the art, having a search engine buddy, which means that local business
can get noticed faster in the area. However, Robert is not ready to reveal his
secret just yet. He has a lot of listings to put into the site still, which will
build the sites reputation for having the best Grand Haven listings on the web.
Anyone will be able to come to the website and find what they are looking for,
including all local businesses and services, and this is will be very important
for the area.
Anyone can be an active member on this website and make comments; even local
businesses can get people to comment and review their business on the site. All
visitors to Grand Haven will find this site useful and refer to it to keep up to
date on what is going on around town. Their biggest attraction to the site will
be the summer rental and cottage rentals listings. It will make listing rental
properties and prices easy for landlords and easy for renters to find what
available during the summer to fit their budget. “It really isn’t about the
money it is again about giving back to the community” says Robert. They are
going to even offer the local businesses in the area an opportunity to submit
coupons that will surely attract both local and tourists. “Why not?”  Robert
says, “isn’t that a part of giving back to the community?”
What can visitors expect from the new SGH? It isn’t going to be hard to see
the benefits of a website that has it all, because finding what you need in town
should be easy. Being able to hit one site to see people’s votes and comments
on their opinion of local businesses and services is going to make a huge
difference. What we are doing is offering local businesses a cheaper way to
advertise their business online and while all along keeping the public informed
what who they are and what their services or products are. This website is the
gateway to many more things to come in the future and it will become popular for
the area by providing the information people are looking for.
This website will keep all the advertising local, helping out the smaller
business man, and give visitors a place to find out about what is going on
around the area. As it sits right now SGH generates so much attention from the
webcam, we are looking into fully updating the system in the new age of HD (High
Definition). We just want to give the community and the town of Grand Haven
something to be proud of.
